Farid Ferragui started writing poetry and showed musical talents as he still was a kid.
After studying in Tizi-Ouzou and teaching french in Taka, he decided to move to France in the late seventies and started learning journalism and producing his first music tape at the same time. He immediatly obtained success , especially with the female audience by imposing his genre made of sung confidences.
Influenced by the Berber tradition, accompanied by the traditional lute and the derbouka, Farid Ferragui distinguishes himself from the other representatives of the new kabile chanson of the early eighties in algeria because of his very personal and deeply emotional repertoire. His song are now considered as classics.
